Baru is an extinct genus of Australian mekosuchine crocodilian, commonly known as the cleaver-headed crocodile. Its fossils have been discovered in various localities across Queensland and the Northern Territory of Australia.
The genus was common during the late Paleogene and early Neogene periods, with fossil records dating from Late Oligocene and Miocene localities. Three distinct species are currently recognized within this genus: B. darrowi, B. iylwenpeny, and B. wickeni.
