Mungkid

Mungkid is the capital of Magelang Regency, located in Central Java, Indonesia. The town center is situated within the village of Sawitan and serves as the primary administrative hub for the regency. It houses all government offices and agencies for the region, as well as various private sector offices.

The town was officially founded on March 22, 1984, to replace Magelang as the administrative seat of the regency. Residents celebrate Mungkid's anniversary every year on March 22. Often characterized as an administrative town or alternative city, Mungkid is also located approximately 4 km from the major Buddhist temple of Borobudur.
