Klaten is a regency located in the Indonesian province of Central Java. It occupies a strategic position between two major cities, situated southwest of Surakarta and northeast of Yogyakarta.
The regency covers a total area of 701 km2 (271 sq mi). As of 2024, Klaten has an estimated population of 1,302,648 residents.
