Brebes is a regency located in the northwestern part of the Central Java province in Indonesia. It covers a total area of 1,769.62 km2 and serves as an administrative division within the region.
The capital of the regency is the large town of Brebes, which is situated in the northeast corner adjacent to the city of Tegal. As of the end of 2025, the official population estimate for the regency was 2,087,331.
