Banyumas Regency is an inland regency located in the southwestern part of the Central Java province in Indonesia. The region covers a total area of 1,391.15 km2 and serves as a significant administrative division within the province.
The capital of the regency is the town of Purwokerto. While it remains the capital, the town no longer maintains a central administration; instead, it is split across four districts covering a combined area of 41.65 km2. As of mid-2024, the population of these specific districts is approximately 236,162, while the total estimated population for the entire regency is 1,847,097.
