Telaga is an agrarian community primarily located in the Coastal Andhra region of India. Members of this group are characterized as land-owning inhabitants who historically functioned as a warrior caste recognized for their honor and bravery.
The term Telaga refers to a subcaste of the Kapu community, with both designations frequently used interchangeably. In the modern Indian social structure, they are classified as a forward caste, which means they are excluded from affirmative action programs reserved for groups on the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Classes (OBC) lists.
