Takengon is a town located in the highlands of western Sumatra, Indonesia. It serves as the seat of the Central Aceh Regency and is situated across three administrative districts: Bebesen, Kebayakan, and Lut Tawar.
The town is positioned on a plateau at an altitude of approximately 1200 metres above sea level, characterized by cool air and its location on the shores of Lake Laut Tawar. The surrounding region is notably recognized for its coffee production.
