Peureulak

Peureulak is a city located in the East Aceh Regency of Indonesia. It is historically significant as the site of the Peureulak Sultanate, which is recognized as the first Muslim state in Southeast Asia.

The sultanate is believed to have converted to Islam as early as the 9th century. This historical foundation establishes the region as a primary center for early Islamic influence within the Indonesian archipelago.
