Kota Binjai

Kota Binjai is an independent city located in the North Sumatra province of Indonesia. It is situated between the Deli Serdang Regency to the east and the Langkat Regency to the west. The city serves as a component of Greater Medan and is connected to Medan, which lies approximately 22 km to the east, via the Sumatra highway leading to Banda Aceh.

The population of Binjai has shown steady growth over recent decades, rising from 181,904 in 1990 to an estimated 310,932 by mid-2025. Additionally, the neighboring Binjai District within the Langkat Regency, located immediately north of the city limits, houses approximately 50,654 inhabitants.
