Paks is a small town located in Tolna county in the southern region of Hungary. It is situated on the right bank of the Danube River, approximately 100 km south of the capital city, Budapest.
Originally an agricultural settlement, Paks is now primarily known as the site of Hungary's only nuclear power plant. This facility is a significant piece of national infrastructure, providing roughly 50% of the country's total electricity consumption.
