Vásárosnamény is a small town located in the Northern Great Plain region of eastern Hungary. It is situated within Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county.
The administrative boundaries of the town have evolved over time through various mergers. Since 1969, it has included Vitka, and in 1939, Gergelyi and Ugornya were united to form Gergelyiugornya as part of the municipality.
