Bátonyterenye is a town located in Nógrád County, Hungary. It is situated under the Mátra mountain range along the banks of the Zagyva river. As of the 2022 census, the town has a population of 11,296 residents.
The town is positioned alongside the Hatvan–Fiľakovo railway line and main road 21, while the M3 motorway is located approximately 42.6 km away. The area features two railway stations: Kisterenye in the north and Nagybátony in the south.
