Berettyóújfalu is a town located in Hajdú-Bihar county in eastern Hungary. It is situated in the center of the Northern Great Plain region, positioned near the border with Romania.
The town is strategically located approximately 35 km south of Debrecen, the second largest city in Hungary, and 40 km west of Oradea, the tenth largest city in Romania. It derives its name from the Berettyó river.
