Pannonhalma is a town located in the Győr-Moson-Sopron county of western Hungary. Formerly known as Győrszentmárton until 1965, the settlement currently has a population of just under 4,000 inhabitants and is situated approximately 20 km south-southeast of the city of Győr.
The town is primarily recognized as the home of the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey. This site holds the distinction of being the oldest extant religious and educational institution in Hungary. Due to its historical significance, the archabbey is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as a major destination for tourism.
