Győr is a city located in northwest Hungary. It serves as the capital of Győr-Moson-Sopron County and the Western Transdanubia region. Situated halfway between Budapest and Vienna, the city lies on one of the primary roads of Central Europe.
As the sixth largest city in Hungary, Győr is designated as one of the country's seven main regional centres. The city also holds county rights.
