Szigetvár is a town located in Baranya County in southern Hungary. The name of the settlement is a compound word formed by "Sziget," meaning island, and "vár," meaning castle.
The town currently has a population of approximately 12,000 residents. In October 2011, the Hungarian Parliament officially granted the city the title Civitas Invicta.
