Petionville

Haiti

Pétion-Ville is a commune and suburb located in the Ouest region of Haiti. It is situated in the hills east of Port-au-Prince, positioned separately from the city on the northern hills of the Massif de la Selle.

The commune was founded in 1831 by President Jean-Pierre Boyer. It was named in honor of Alexandre Sabès Pétion (1770–1818), a Haitian general and president who is recognized as one of the four founding fathers of the country.
