Tovarnik is a municipality located in the Vukovar-Syrmia County of Croatia. It is situated within the region of Syrmia, positioned directly on the border with Serbia, adjacent to the town of Šid and the village of Ilinci.
According to the 2001 census, the municipality has a population of 2,775 inhabitants, of whom 91.06% are Croats. The area is noted as the birthplace of the prominent Croatian poet Antun Gustav Matoš.
Statistically, Tovarnik is classified by the Government of Croatia as an underdeveloped municipality. It is designated as a First Category Area of Special State Concern.
