Punat is a municipality located in western Croatia on the island of Krk within the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The municipality has a total population of 1,900 people, of whom 90% are Croats as of 2021. The village of Punat serves as the primary settlement with a population of 1,784, while Stara Baška is the only other settlement within the municipality.
The town first appears in written records dating back to 1377 AD, though its exact date of foundation remains unknown. Geographically, Punat is situated on a bay characterized by the presence of the island of Košljun and the Church of St. Dunat.
