Trnava is a city located in western Slovakia, situated on the Trnávka river approximately 47 km (29 mi) to the northeast of Bratislava. It serves as the capital of both the Trnava Region and the Trnava District.
The city features a historic center and is notably known for its numerous churches located within its city walls. Due to this high concentration of religious architecture, Trnava has frequently been referred to as "Little Rome" or, more recently, the "Slovak Rome." It also serves as the seat of a Roman Catholic archbishopric.
