Rovinj is a city located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula in west Croatia. Situated on the north Adriatic Sea, it serves as an active fishing port and is a well-known destination for tourism and beaches. As of 2011, the city had a population of 14,294.
The town is officially bilingual, with both Croatian and Italian names holding equal status. While Istriot, a Romance language once common in this region, is still spoken by some residents today, the city maintains its dual linguistic identity.
