Pula, also known as Pola, is the largest city in Croatia's Istria County and the seventh-largest city in the country. Located at the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula in western Croatia, the city had a population of 52,220 as of 2021.
The city is characterized by its numerous ancient Roman buildings, most notably the Pula Arena, which remains one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters. Historically, Pula served as the administrative center of Istria from ancient Roman times until it was superseded by Pazin in 1991.
Pula has a long established tradition in several industries, including wine making, fishing, shipbuilding, and tourism.
