Korčula is an island located in the Adriatic Sea off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. Covering an area of 279 km² (108 sq mi), the island measures approximately 46.8 km (29.1 mi) in length and averages 7.8 km (4.8 mi) in width. It is the second most populous Adriatic island, following Krk, with a population of 15,522 inhabitants as of 2011.
The population of the island is predominantly ethnic Croat, accounting for 95.74% of the residents. Korčula maintains a twinning relationship with Rothesay in Scotland. The island is notably recognized for Grk, a specific white wine produced exclusively on the island; due to limited production volumes, this wine is not exported.
