Tung Chung is a new town located on the northwestern coast of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It was originally a rural fishing village situated beside Tung Chung Bay, along the delta and lower courses of the Tung Chung River and Ma Wan Chung.

Historically, the area served as an important defense stronghold against pirates and foreign military forces during both the Ming and Qing dynasties.
