Shek Kip Mei Estate is located in the Sham Shui Po district of Hong Kong. It holds historical significance as the first public housing estate established in the region and currently falls under the management of the Hong Kong Housing Authority.
The development was constructed to provide permanent housing for families who lost their homes during a fire in Shek Kip Mei in 1953. The project specifically aimed to resettle inhabitants who had been living in squats over the hill following that disaster.
