San Miguel Ixtahuacán is a municipality located in the San Marcos department of Guatemala. The region has a population of approximately 39,000 people distributed across 19 different villages.

The demographic makeup of the municipality is primarily composed of ethnically Maya-Mam people who speak both Mam and Spanish. The local economy is largely based on agriculture, with inhabitants farming crops such as corn, beans, vegetables, and fruits. These agricultural activities are supported by irrigation from the Cuilco River and its various tributaries.
