Retalhuleu is a city located in south-western Guatemala. It is situated approximately 55 kilometres (34 mi) by road southwest of Quetzaltenango.
The city serves as the departmental seat of Retalhuleu Department and the municipal seat of Retalhuleu Municipality. Locally, the city is known by the nickname "Reu."
