Santa María Cunén is a town and municipality situated in the El Quiché department of Guatemala. The municipality encompasses a total area of 195 km2 and sits at an average altitude of 1,827 metres above sea level, which provides the region with a temperate climate.
The town is located approximately 68 km from the departmental capital, Santa Cruz del Quiché, by paved road. Notable local tourist attractions include Las Grutas and the El Chorro waterfall.
