Zunil is a town and municipality located in the Quetzaltenango department of Guatemala. It occupies a surface area of 80 square kilometres (31 sq mi) and sits at an altitude of approximately 2,075 metres (6,808 ft) above mean sea level. The town is situated on the bank of the Salamá River, roughly 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from the city of Quetzaltenango.
The municipality has a population that was recorded at 14,118 during the 2018 census and is 100% indigenous. The inhabitants primarily speak Kʼicheʼ and Spanish. The area surrounding the town is known for its thermal baths featuring volcanic water, with notable examples including Fuentes Georginas and Almolonga.
