Almolonga is a town situated in the south-western department of Quetzaltenango in Guatemala. It is located near the Almolonga volcano, which sits just south of Quetzaltenango, the country's second-largest city.
The nearby Almolonga volcano is an andesitic stratovolcano that forms part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Due to its distinct shape, the volcano is also known by the names "Cerro Quemado" or "La Muela."
