Sayaxché is a municipality located in the El Petén department of Guatemala. It is situated along the Río La Pasión River and covers a total area of approximately 3,904 square kilometres (1,507 square miles).
The population of the municipality was recorded at 55,578 during the 2002 Census, with more recent official estimates placing the inhabitant count at 114,781.
