Flores is an island located in the eastern half of Indonesia as part of the Lesser Sunda Islands group. It serves as the largest island within the East Nusa Tenggara Province, covering a total land area of 14,250 square kilometers.
The name Flores is derived from Portuguese and translates to "Flowers." The region's population was recorded at 1,878,875 during the 2020 Census, with an official estimate reaching approximately 2,014,110 by mid-2024. This figure includes the populations of Komodo and Rinca islands located off its west coast.
The largest towns situated on the island are Ende and Maumere.
