Huehuetenango is a city and municipality located in the highlands of western Guatemala. It serves as the capital of the department of Huehuetenango and is situated approximately 269 kilometres (167 mi) from the nation's capital, Guatemala City.
The city holds a strategic position as the final departmental capital on the Pan-American Highway before reaching the Mexican border at La Mesilla. Economically, its primary export is coffee.
