Sitia

Sitia, also known as Siteia, is a port town and municipality located in the Lasithi region of Crete, Greece. Situated on the Sea of Crete, which is part of the Aegean Sea, it lies east of Agios Nikolaos and northeast of Ierapetra. The town serves as one of the primary economic centers for the Lasithi region.

As of 2021, the town has a population of 11,166 inhabitants, while the broader municipality comprises 20,438 residents. The area is served by the Sitia Public Airport and marks the starting point of European route E75. Despite possessing several sites of historical interest and a long beach along the road to Vai, the town has not experienced the effects of mass tourism.
