Astypalaia is a Greek island located in the southeastern Aegean Sea. It currently has a population of 1,376 residents.
While the island officially belongs to the Dodecanese archipelago, many scholars classify it as an extension of the Cyclades. This distinction is based on the fact that the island's cultural and ecological components are more indicative of the Cycladic region than those of the Dodecanese.
