Poros is a small Greek island-pair located in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf. It sits approximately 58 km south of the port of Piraeus and is separated from the Peloponnese by a sea channel only 200 meters wide. The town of Galatas is situated on the mainland directly across this strait.
The island-pair covers a surface area of about 31 square kilometers and had a population of 3,261 inhabitants as of 2021. Historically known by the ancient name Pogon, Poros serves as a popular weekend destination for travelers from Athens due to its location within the Saronic ports.
