Petroupoli is a semi-mountainous town located in the Attica region of Greece. Situated in the western suburbs of Athens, the area serves as part of the metropolitan landscape surrounding the capital city.
The settlement was originally integrated into the community of Nea Liosia until 1946, at which point it established itself as a separate community. It was later elevated to municipality status in 1972.
