Nea Smyrni is a municipality and town located in South Athens, Greece. According to the 2021 census, the area had a population of 72,853 inhabitants.
The town was named after the former Greek city of Smyrna. It served as a settlement for many refugees who arrived and established themselves in the Nea Smyrni area following the Burning of Smyrna during the Greco-Turkish war in 1922.
