Marousi, also known as Maroussi or Amarousio, is a city located in the northeastern part of the Athens urban area in Greece. The region dates back to the era of the ancient Athenian Republic and was originally known as Athmonon. Historically, it served as one of the ten Athenian sub-cities.
The area was home to a primary ancient temple dedicated to Amarysia Artemis, the goddess of hunting. The modern name of the city is derived from this deity, specifically referencing the origin of her worship in Amarynthos, Euboea. As of 2023, the city's mayor is Theodoros Ampatzoglou.
