Skyros, historically referred to as Scyros in Latin contexts, is an island located in Greece. It serves as the southernmost inhabited island of the Sporades archipelago within the Aegean Sea. The island covers a total area of approximately 209 square kilometers (81 square miles) and was the largest landmass in the Sporades region.
The island has been known by various names throughout history, including The Island of the Magnetes around the 2nd millennium BC, followed by Pelasgia and Dolopia before becoming Skyros. As of 2021, the island had a population of approximately 3,000 residents.
