Mesolongi, also known as Missolonghi, is a town located in western Greece. It serves as the capital of the Aetolia-Acarnania regional unit and functions as the seat of the municipality of Iera Polis Mesolongiou.
According to the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 32,048 people, with 13,965 residents living specifically within the town of Missolonghi. The location is historically significant as the site of a dramatic siege during the Greek War of Independence, an event that resulted in the death of the poet Lord Byron.
