Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is a Greek island located in the Ionian Sea. It serves as the third largest of the Ionian Islands, covering an area of 405.55 km2 (156.6 sq mi) with a coastline measuring 123 km (76 mi) in length.
In Greek mythology, the island is said to have been named after Zacynthus, who was identified as the son of the legendary Arcadian chief Dardanus.
