Pyli is a municipality located in the Trikala regional unit of Greece. Situated approximately 18 km west of the city of Trikala, it lies at the base of mountains Itamos and Koziakas, which signify the beginning of the Pindos mountain range. The town serves as a geographical gateway to a large gorge and provides the natural path leading toward the city of Arta.
The municipality contains seven municipal units, while the town itself has a population of about 4,000 residents. Most inhabitants are self-employed in various business establishments. Although the surrounding region is well-suited for agriculture and animal herding, these occupations have been largely abandoned by the local population. Historically, Pyli has served as the primary trade center for the surrounding settlements, and the river Portaikos, a tributary of the Pineios, flows through the area.
