Nigrita

Nigrita is a city and former municipality located in the Serres regional unit of Macedonia, Greece. Following the local government reform of 2011, it became a municipal unit and serves as the seat of the municipality of Visaltia.

The city is situated in a wide plain south of the Strymonas river, positioned at the northern foot of the Kerdylio mountains. Geographically, Nigrita lies in the southern part of the Serres regional unit, approximately 22 km south of Serres and 92 km northeast of Thessaloniki.
