Ierissos is a small town situated on the east coast of the Akti peninsula in Chalkidiki, Greece. It is positioned approximately 115 km from Thessaloniki and lies just 10 km from the border of the Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy Mountain, also known as Mount Athos.
The location serves as the site of the ancient city and former bishopric of Hierissus, which currently remains a Latin Catholic titular see. Additionally, Ierissos functions as a transportation point for ferries traveling to the east coast of Mount Athos.
