Trois-Rivières is a city located in the Mauricie administrative region of Quebec, Canada. Situated at the confluence of the Saint-Maurice and Saint Lawrence rivers, it lies on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River directly across from the city of Bécancour. The city is positioned approximately halfway between Montreal and Quebec City within the densely populated Quebec City–Windsor Corridor.
The settlement was established by French colonists on July 4, 1634, making it the second permanent settlement in New France following the founding of Quebec City in 1608. Today, Trois-Rivières serves as the primary economic and cultural hub for the Mauricie region.
