Port Louis is the capital and most populous city of Mauritius. It is primarily situated within the Port Louis District, though a small portion of the city extends into the western part of the Black River District.
The city serves as the primary financial and political center of the country. It is administered by the Municipal City Council of Port Louis. According to the 2018 census conducted by Statistics Mauritius, the population of the city was 147,066.
