Montalegre, officially known as the Town of Montalegre, is a municipality located in northern Portugal. It is situated within the district of Vila Real and lies along the border with Spain.
As of the 2011 census, the municipality had a population of 10,537 residents. The total area of the region covers approximately 805.46 km².
