Sangarédi is a mining town and sub-prefecture located in western Guinea. It serves as a primary hub for the extraction of bauxite ore.
The region's industrial activity is centered on three bauxite mines and a refinery operated by CBG, which produces approximately 14,000,000 tonnes per year. The extracted ore is transported via railway to the Atlantic coast port of Kamsar, situated 135 km to the west.
As of 2016, Sangarédi had a population of 81,736 people. This figure represented an increase of roughly 5% over the two years preceding 2016, a growth attributed to the expansion of the local mining and refining operations.
