Tanji is a coastal town located in Gambia along the Atlantic coast. It serves primarily as a fishing hub, which has driven significant population growth due to both urban and rural migration attracted by the local industry and the area's geographic location.
As of the 2013 census, the town had a population of 14,531. Notable landmarks in the vicinity include the Tanje Village Museum, where artisans and craftsmen practice traditional crafts, and the Tanji Bird Reserve, situated approximately 3 kilometers from the village.
